Game overview
Forum: Eternity Wars
It’s interesting to see a board game based on a video game rather than a video game based on a board game. The Kickstarter page goes into a fair amount of detail about the game and includes videos about the rules.
This is the second attempt to Kickstarter Eternity Wars. The first attempt was done under the name Patration Wars. It’s not uncommon for an unsuccessful campaign to see a successful reboot. Another project which is hoping for the same scenario is Kaboom! A Frantic Card Game.
Summary
Eternity Wars (previously known as Patration Wars) is a tabletop board game based off Real Time Strategy video games (RTS for short). Players manage resources, build bases, recruit armies, and engage in strategic combat similar to an RTS video game! Eternity Wars was developed with an intent to port the same mechanics that make RTS games so enjoyable onto a tabletop setting. Veteran RTS players will recognize the technology trees, different resources, required micro and macro management, and unit types that are staples in the RTS genre. Although the game functions similarly to the video game variant, it includes many original mechanics that make playing Eternity Wars a unique and fulfilling experience.

Referral Bonus!
“For those of you who go out and get someone to back the project at ANY level (yes that includes the Raider level) we’ll give both of you two Vulca Corp Merc cards. The person being refereed[sic] has to send [Justin] a message saying who referred them so [he] can add them to the list of backers receiving the cards. *Note* if the person being referred pledges at the Raider level only the backer referring them gets the cards.”
So all you have to do is back and message Justin letting him know that you were referred to the project by Geekers Keep!
Chances of success
It’s difficult to tell at this point whether or not Justin has fixed the problems that caused his first campaign to fail. One issue that I see a lack of followers going into the campaign. The Facebook page for Eternity Wars has only a little more than 50 likes and the profile on BoardGameGeek has zero likes at this point. Justin is definitely going to have to rally the troops for this campaign to succeed. However, the project itself is an interesting one and it seems like there’s been a lot of prototype testing, which shows the game is moving towards production. So right now I’d say it’s about a 50/50 shot.
