Game overview

Forum: Epic Picnic – The Morally-Bankrupt Card Game

Epic Picnic“Epic Picnic is a fast and crazy card game inspired by a verbal memory game from childhood that [devious devices] corrupted with humor from [their] adult life. You might bring figgy pudding on a picnic, fashion a makeshift weapon out of Peter Piper’s pickled pecker, or inherit a Nicaraguan death squad from your grandfather.”

Since Epic Picnic is a game which is marketed to adult audiences, probably the game that most closely resembles this one in terms of theme would be Cards Against Humanity.

Rules

The campaign makes directions for the game very clear. There have been far too many games that we’ve reviewed that are the exact opposite!

The first player reveals a Prompt card and then places a Picnic card on top of the Prompt card. The next player has to state the Prompt and Picnic cards by memory in order. Their turn ends with the player revealing a new Picnic card. The third, fourth, fifth, etc. players continue with these rules. Be careful; if you mess up, you are out of the game. The last player standing is the winner.

Kickstarter Specifics

Goal: $2,500
Pledge Levels: 5 levels ranging from $1 to $45
End Date: Sun, Apr 20, 5:42 pm EDT.

Chances of success

Epic Picnic’s campaign managed to get roughly 10% of its funding within the first day, so we feel there is no reason not for it to succeed. The rules are simple and can provide great comedic fun among friends! The creators are finished making the game and find the risk of hard challenges to be very small. In cases like these, the main concerns are related to the amount of play testing done to ensure solid mechanics and the possibility of issues related to printing.
