Show Overview
Forum: Tabletop
Tabletop is the show that started it all, at least for Geekers Keep. Yes; that’s right. It’s Tabletop’s fault. More precisely, it’s Wil Wheaton’s fault. For those who aren’t familiar with the show, Tabletop is one of the first shows to air on Geek and Sundry, an indie YouTube channel dedicated to Geek related topics. Every episode Wil Wheaton, along with his guests, play one or more tabletop games. Besides giving the audience a general idea of what the game is like and how to play it, the show is filled with hilarious moments, usually at the expense of Wil’s ego.
Don’t worry Wil, I rarely win on days where I’m hosting game night either. Loser’s couch solidarity!
After roughly two years, Tabletop is now entering its third season. However, instead of just producing the season as usual, Geek and Sundry is looking for funding through Indiegogo. I’m incredibly excited to see this project on a crowd funding site, and even more stoked that it overlaps our own crowd funding campaign for Geekers Keep.
From the Campaign
We love the idea of working together as a community to make something awesome. We’ve always had an independent spirit at Geek & Sundry, so we’re very excited to partner with the worldwide audience of TableTop and Indiegogo to become a truly independent production. With your help, TableTop can have the freedom to do things in Season 3 that we haven’t been able to do before.
We have big plans for TableTop, and we need your help to see it become a reality.
We want to release more episodes consistently, and with a quality that is worthy of Broadcast TV. We have a great show with an AWESOME host, and we really don’t want to muddle that up with outside investors. WE JUST WANT TO SHOW YOU GREAT GAMES!

Chances of success
Tabletop already has a huge fan base, which is why it’s no surprise that within 24 hours of launching, the campaign has already made it more than half way to its initial goal. The campaign itself is clean and simple. There’s not a lot that needs to be said about Tabletop. It has two full seasons on Geek and Sundry as proof of concept. The site also seems to be getting plenty of attention; I actually had trouble connecting at the time of writing this article.
As a side note, the fact that the team decided to use Indiegogo to fund its project may be of great benefit to those who run Indiegogo campaigns. One of the largest issues Indiegogo faces right now is that there simply isn’t enough traffic to the site. Tabletop Season 3 has already attracted more than 3,600 backers, some of which are likely to have never backed an Indiegogo project before, and will likely attract many more.
