Game overview

Forum: 3D World Planet

3D World PlanetThe virtual planet uses the same coordinates as the real world. In fact, users can look up their current address on Google and use those same coordinates to purchase that sector on the 3D World Planet. Once you have purchased a sector you can reserve sectors for family and friends as well. This way sector-owners can surround themselves with friends, family or fans.

Beta Review

So far the system is rather simple. There’s not all that much you can do, but it is listed as a beta. Honestly, however, I would probably really classify the current system as an alpha. The system is more or less a sandbox style application. It’s an interesting overall concept.

The globe is set up into various sectors. You can purchase a sector for $1. You can combine adjacent sectors into larger and larger municipalities, and set basic parameters including having an image displayed over your sectors.

Funding Needs

The campaign needs some work. One of the biggest issues is regarding the amount requested and the lack of detailed explanation as to where the funding will go.

I think a visual of the funding breakdown would help in the case of 3D World Planet. It took a while to get a good idea of how the $55,000 would be used. In addition to paying for servers, which can get quite costly, part of the funding will go towards creating a mobile app to access the system. Other funds will go to adding a more robust feature set to the system; right now the product is more or less in beta.

Regarding the initial goal, I still think $55,000 is a little high for the project. I get that the creator wants to produce the absolute best product out of the box, but I think a lower goal would bring in more backers. Many of those backers would then spend cash to purchase sectors.
