Forum: Billionaire Banshee

From the Campaign

Billionaire Banshee CardsBillionaire Banshee is a quick and easy game to play. Each turn one player grabs both a Perk and a Quirk card. This combination of cards represents a potential lover that player could spend the rest of their life with.

Everyone then puts either a Date or Deny voting card face down, to represent what choice they think their friend will make. Individually each player flips their voting card and explains why they believe this is the perfect, or worst match for their friend. In the end, the player who’s turn it is reveals how they voted, and why. Everyone that guessed correctly gains a point.

This is a conversation building card game. You’ll be shocked by how your friends answer. How could someone be okay with dating a mate with tentacles, but have a problem with dating a wizard? Why would someone deny a billionaire, but date a lover with a toaster oven mouth? These are probably questions you never thought you’d be asking about your friends, but that’s why this card game exists!

Initial Opinion

This might be a game for you if you liked the Epic Picnic game project. The game itself seems like it will be fun to play and easy to play. Because the game can easily be customized by removing certain decks, it can be played in pretty much any situation with any group of people. In addition, it’s suitable for larger groups of people and has been play tested with up to ten players. You can play for points or just play for fun. It’s up to you.

Campaign Specifics

Goal: $20,000
Pledge Tiers: 10 tiers ranging from $8 – $5,000

Funding Type: Fixed

Chances of success

The campaign itself is well laid out. Information regarding rewards and other campaign specifics is readily available. However, one piece of information which is lacking, which is something that I find all the time when reviewing crowd funded games, is basic game stats: number of players, recommended ages, and approximate play time. This is being fixed. (Details are now in the campaign FAQ) The reason why there were no details on these statistics was because the details are highly variable.

Momentum

I think some momentum was lost because of the lack of updates at the beginning of the campaign. It seems that Steven was at the PAX convention and this prevented him from posting updates. H was, and still is, active in the comment section of the campaign, and that’s important. It shows that he’s interested in making this campaign work. In addition, he thanked all of the backers so far.

However, campaign managers should do everything possible to post an update within the first day or two, or risk losing a lot of momentum.
