Having run two successful campaigns in the past, Chad Ellis is back for a third. Wuxing is a stand alone tabletop tactical wargame based on the Battleground system.

Game overview

From the Campaign

It’s a tabletop tactical wargame.  It’s minis with cards.  It’s an award-winning game that has won over hard-core wargamers but is also one of Tom Vasel’s top ten games of all time (and has been almost since it first came out).

Battleground is a point-based miniatures game – but without the miniatures! Battleground uses cards rather than painted models to represent your forces. But don’t be fooled – this is not a “light” war game or a CCG. Battleground is a tactical wargame that will challenge you at every step, from army design and deployment to decisions of maneuver and command until battle’s end.

When you play Battleground you take the role of a general, mustering and commanding your units in battle. Unlike most tabletop wargames where you have complete control over every soldier’s actions, in Battleground each unit has a written order given to them by you at the start of the game. Your loyal men will follow those orders until you give them new commands and each turn you must choose how to use your precious command and control resources wisely.

Chances of success

Wuxing the third campaign that Chad has run. This is obvious from the clean design of the campaign. The reward tiers don’t offer too much, but since Chad’s only looking for $2,000 he doesn’t need to. This campaign gets right to the point, and I like it. Chad also has the advantage of bringing previous backers to this new campaign, allowing Wuxing to break its base goal in about 24 hours.

The campaign is also very short, running only for 2 weeks. This seems to have pulled in a lot of early support, and will probably continue to do so. Rather than sitting around indecisively, and possibly forgetting about this campaign, people will want to make sure that they back early on.
