[Campaign Review] Delirium Playing Cards

Delirium Playing Cards Banner

If you are into collecting various decks of playing cards, Giovanni might have something for you. The Delirium Playing Cards are part of a line of cards being developed by Thirdway Industries. I will admit that I do not review all that many decks of playing cards. I’m just not a collector and I don’t really play the types of card games that you can play with a standard 52 card deck. So when I review this campaign, keep that in mind.

Basic Information

Ages: Varies
Time: Varies
Estimated Delivery: April 2015
Location: Milan, Italy

This is actually more or less a reboot of an earlier campaign: the Good Deck campaign, which ran on a different crowd funding site. It was not successful, but Giovanni hopes that the new Kickstarter version will go through.

Game overview

First, a little bit about the already existing decks. Earlier this year the Evil Deck was part of a contest on playingcardforum.com a forum specifically dedicated to playing cards. The contest had six decks and 107 voters. The Evil Deck received 57% of the vote making it the clear winner.

Delirium DeckIt’s pretty easy to see that there are many stylistic elements in common with the previous deck. Both feature interesting artwork and are well matched. I could imagine that it wouldn’t be impossible to come up with a game that featured both of these decks in a single game, maybe a modified form of Canasta.

In any case, the designs are certainly wacky, especially for the Delirium Deck, as they should be.

Chances of success

The product itself seems like a good product for collectors. It’s fun that you can get various themed decks. One of the largest issues with Giovanni’s previous campaign was a lack of updates. If he wants this campaign to succeed, he’s going to have to make sure that he engages his base. However, he seems to have done a much better job at rallying supporters this time around.
