[Campaign Review] D12 Machined Metal Fudge Dice: Variety Anodized Colors

By vasshu Jan 10 0

D12 Machined Metal Fudge Dice - Variety Anodized Colors

Dice King Game Designs is in reboot mode as it lowers its goal and reduces the costs of its tiers for the D12 Machined Metal Fudge Dice: Variety Anodized Colors campaign. The campaign, as the name might suggest, features metal fudge dice that come in a variety of colors. The goal for Dice King Game Designs’ project seems rather different from that of Doublesix Dice project. These dice are of course a lot heavier and are designed, at least in part, with collecting in mind.

Basic Information

Estimated Delivery: May 2014

Product overview

You can choose between three different metals for the construction. You can select light weight 6061 aluminum, copper, or brass. The aluminum die weighs 0.4oz while the copper and brass dice weigh 0.9oz each. For reference, that means two aluminum dice would weigh about as much as four quarters, while two of the others would weigh about as much as 9 quarters.

The aluminum dice come in three different anodized color options: red, blue, or green. A fourth option will also be chosen by polling backers. All of the dice measure 16mm, which is the standard for gaming dice.

Kickstarter Specifics

Goal: $4,750
Pledge Levels: Five levels ranging from $30 – $62
End Date: Sunday Feb 9, 11:26pm EST

Chances of success

As I mentioned earlier, Dice King Game Designs already restarted the campaign once to restructure the funding levels and the goal. Definitely bringing the cost down a bit will entice more people to back the project, but having only five levels is too restrictive. Yet, I also noticed everyone who has backed the project so far has stayed at the lowest tier. Some people might be wondering why the dice are so expensive, but honestly, metal dice are expensive and these are as much for collecting as they are for gaming.

Campaign Suggestions

One option that I’ve found useful in crowd funded campaigns is backer exclusive version of a product. If Dice King Game Designs could add a reasonably priced tier for that, it might give the campaign a real boost.
