I was quite excited when I saw this project on Kickstarter. Robot Turtles is a game marketed towards parents of young children. Okay, so I wasn’t planning on spending hours playing it myself, and I don’t have any children of my own at the moment. The reason I was so excited by this project was because it is an example of how games can be used as powerful tools for teaching children seemingly complex topics. [Campaign Review] Golem Arcana
Golem Arcana is an upcoming game by Harebrained Schemes LLC. It’s a miniature war-game, but unlike other games of the genre, the mechanics are handled in software. This greatly reduces the learning curve of the game and also prevents accidental rule violations during the learning phase. It also means that gamers will have access to virtual content along with the physical units. The units in Golem Aracana consist of Golems, Golem Knights, Blood Knights, and Ancient Ones. The Knights control the physical Golems on the board and Ancient Ones are virtual characters that provide support during the game. [Campaign Review] Something Different: A Card game of Improvisation
Something Different is an improvisational card game produced by Float a Goat Games. For those familiar with Fluxx, you might find Something Different to be similar to Fluxx in that it is a dynamic rule based game. However unlike Fluxx, Something Different requires complete interaction from the players. If you love improvisation, or games that have to physically get involved in the fun, than I would strongly suggest this game.
